I had to differ to my child for a open-minded review on this sequel the 1993 hit Hocus Pocus. I will make this short but sweet. I’ll start with my own take on this greatly talked about movie and then share what I could pry out of my son.
It was to be expected and not much more. It felt rushed and seemed like the contributers to the film either skipped watching the first movie or was trying too little. I will be honest, I appreciate Disney for airing the first film before the release of the sequel so we could get a refresher on the characters and story. But, it failed to WOW me, then ended up with a heart filled moment that really didn’t last long and was the only time I smiled during the movie.
I give it a rating of 2 out of 6
So, my 9 year old son also watched it and he said that “it was cool” in a calm voice with a shoulder shrug. I asked him if he would watch it again. He said yes, next year after he’s had time to forget it. I asked him to rate it against his favorite Disney movies Cars, Up and Frozen.
My 9yo son rates Hocus Pocus 2 a 3 out of 6 and his other favorite Disney movies all 6 out of 6
Thank you for your time and once my niece watches it I will give an update.
