Halloween Ends brings back Laurie Strode for the supposedly final chapter to the Halloween saga and the legend of Michael Myers.
But it feels as if the director and the writer were not at all on the same page or the producers purchased the script of some movie called The Tunnel Man and renamed it “Halloween Ends”.
The new series of Halloween movies exited me as well as millions of other horror fans, Halloween franchise fans and movie goers everywhere. Yet, it forced us all to suffer an hour and thirty minutes of confusion and awkward situations and gave us ten minutes of that good old-school horror movie feeling or two.
At the moment they mentioned the release date for this movie, I’ve been waiting for what should have been it’s celebrated release. It started with me believing that the nightmare was over for Laurie Strode & her granddaughter since they moved far away from the town of Haddonfield, just to discover that four years after that hellish night that Michael Myers handed the whole town a butt whooping to remember during the last moments of their lives that Laurie and her granddaughter moved maybe across town. Which is the true start to the movie because the real beginning confused everyone involved in making and watching it.
I don’t wanna get into spoiler like details, so I’ll let the following words wreak havoc into your minds.
Halloween Ends is worth watching but with a completely different, open minded, non slasher movie expectations. Try to imagine if Chucky started in The Hand That Rocks the Cradle. Not the best analogy but I’m writing this right after watching Halloween Ends and while I cook dinner for my grandmother.
It’s kinda worth watching to get through it but not if your looking for an amazing cinematic experience.
Also, shame on the secondary characters. The tough band geek squad threw me WAY off.
Okay dokey. Here it goes.
I rate Halloween Ends a 7.5 out of 20
Good Qualities: Jamie Lee Curtis, Michael Myers and a conclusion that hasn’t been done yet
Bad Qualities: Weirdly rushed relationships, unlikable bullying situations, confusing characters and one sided climaxes
